I used the double lesson effectively as completing all my goals in class or for homework. The goals that I have set that have now been completed are;
- Finish annotation – By Tuesday Week 2- DONE!
- Start Editing the footage on I movie- By Tuesday Week 2- DONE!
- Interview and Film Charlie Eating the food- By Thursday Week 2- Tuesday Week 3- DONE!
- By the food again and reuse some items to test Charlie with- By Wednesday Week 2- Monday Week 3- DONE!
But I have created some new goals which are;
- Add Charlie in my table- Tuesday to Wednesday Week 2
- Start writing and demonstrating my results table- Monday- Thursday week 3
- Finish my video- Monday Week 4
These goals are good because they will help me stay ahead and on track and gives me some time to edit the rest of my work and make it perfect as I have alot of time to spare- which works well in my favour.
This lesson I started off by dropping my stuff into Mrs Kemp Classroom, then I ran straight to the maths stairs on a mission to get to Mrs Kelly’s Classroom to get my camera to Film Charlie. Ms Franklin kindly helped me find a microphone that worked and put the SD card in the camera, which saved me time. Only spending a short time getting the camera would mean that I could film Charlie in the first lesson. Ready to do that, I come back with the camera all set up to film. Then after I have set up I walk to Mr Markey’s classroom to check if Charlie is ready to be tested- Later realising that they were silently revising for a test. With that happening, I didn’t really have much as I had filled in my table ready to put Charlie’s information it. With one lesson to spare, I decided to start editing my film as I still want to be ahead. Doing that worked in my favour as I made a great start to my film. About 15 minutes later, I walk back to Charlie’s classroom to see if they had finished which they had. I walked in and Mr Markey suggested that I would film her in the next lesson which means can I work more on my film. In that time span of 15 minutes, I did some further editing- which really benefitted my film and was great headstart. I went back in, and Charlie was ready. We walked into S3 and got started with our filming.
I realised from my filming with Charlie that people with Autism prefer certain consistencies such as Soft- which I noticed by watching back the footage of Charlie and I as we mentioned how we prefer foods with safe textures such as soft and find grainy foods hard as there are many flavours occurring at once. But on the other hand, people who weren’t on the spectrum that I tested didn’t have a problem with the different textures as their taste buds weren’t sensitive and that they are used to those inconsistencies compared to people on the spectrum as they can have things that Charlie and I struggled with, which was the hummus, not have reaction to the consistency, flavour, taste and smell.
Dear Cleo, Well done! You have worked really hard the last few weeks and your blog posts are very detailed and well considered. I look forward to seeing the results of your experiment. Love Mrs Kemp xx
