Connect, Extend, Challenge- Second Video
Connect:
This video connected to what I already knew as I previously knew that soldering was the act of melted to metals together to conjoin them and to create one. What I previously knew is that soldering is similar to creating a snap circuit which I have previously done which made it easier to understand. The video connected what I knew from the past video as I previously knew that you need to connect wires together and use a hard plastic board to connect them together and to use a burning tool and dip it first in solder for it melt. Something else that knew about soldering is that you need to use a set of wires, A large tool holder with a mirror and pilers, 3 scraping tools, Om meter, Clear glasses, A large and small set of pliers, A gold pen-like object and an orange drill-like object. Which wasn’t featured in the video.
Extend:
Something that extended my knowledge from watching this video is that you don’t specifically need Solder which is the actual chemical which allows it to melt. I say this because in the last video, she recommended solder power which allows it to melt with ease. Something else that extended my knowledge from this video is that she included a more precise board with specific numbers which allows you to create a neater and more correct final product. I think doing this will make it easier so then you know exactly what number and what letter you placed the solder. Something else that extended my knowledge is that to perform this action you will need safety goggles. This extended my knowledge as in the previous video she did not mention that safety goggles will be required to perform this action.
Challenge:
Some questions that I gained through watching this video is;
- Which Ciruit board is more advanced the one with no numbers or with numbers?
~ I ask this question because in the 2 videos that I watched they used different things and gave different advice which made me very confused. Knowing this question will help me understand more about the different board types and will help to extend my regained knowledge on soldering and what is included in it.
- Do you need to use solder powder to get the same effect on the board?
~ I ask this question because in the first video, she demonstrated the circuit board using solder powder. Knowing this question will give me a general idea of what to do before I start soldering. This prior knowledge will help me when learning the basics of soldering and knowing which is a more easier and more effective way of soldering.
- Is there another way to get rid of your solder instead of the “Desoldering Braid”.
- I am interested in knowing this question as in the previous video she mentioned to use the Desoldering Braid as a technique to get rid of your solder if you mess up. Knowing another way will help me to know before starting either to be more careful or be less restricted. Knowing this technique will also help me if the lab department might not have the suggested equipment.
Week 3 Tuesday Double:
During the Double today I worked effectively on my I movie and added in new music and finished editing myself for the Avocado on Toast Section of my film. I also completed adding in Gauri for The Avocado On Toast bit. Whilst editing the film and watching it over a couple times to make sure it is consistent I noticed that I put a clip of myself talking about the textures I couldn’t handle in the 1-5 scale rating section. To fix this issue I tried to move it down to the down bar. Doing this switch the clip into an auto recording of my voice. To fix this issue, I continuously tried to bring it back up and to consult help from my teachers including going to “The Hive” and talking to The STEM teachers. They tried their best to undo the action so it transforms into its original form. Sadly, this did not work so I restored in deciding to add the original footage which will take a long time. I have set a list of goals to keep me on track with my video so I can start annotating my data and creating a graph. These goals will make this task much more achievable and more fun to complete.
My Goals For Week 6:
- Finish the Avocado on Toast Portion of the video– Due Thursday Wk 4 (Homework Time; Wednesday, Thursday and Weekend if needed)
- Finish The Carrot and Hummus Portion of The video– Due Wednesday Wk 5 (Homework week 4 weekend and Stem single Monday and Double Tuesday).
- Finish The Nachos Portion of the video– Due Thursday Week 6 (Homework Week 5 Thursday Week 5, Weekend Wk 5, lesson time and Monday and Tuesday if needed.
- Start Annotating my Data- Due Friday Week 7 (Homework Weekend Wk 6, Lesson time Monday and Tuesday).
Dear Cleo, wow what fantastic connect-extend-challenges these are. You have learnt a lot about soldering. Well done! I am glad your project is coming along, I look forward to reading your report.
