In STEM- Stem, is a Technology, Science and Maths program we have at our school and now we are studying the art of coding.
During this process I decided I wanted to work with scratch and create a game then got confused so easier because I wasn’t used to the format of code and decided to go back onto “Grok” where I felt pretty comfortable considering I did the coding competition last year on Grok so I was confident on it.
As I started to work through it, I did come across some road blocks during a portion of the Grok python course which was when I was I was naming different people and creating a response back.
I originally got it all correct then as you could see in the photo the red line is where I made I mistake I tried to fix it till the end of the double but had no time left 🙁
In the next lesson what I will do differently is maybe working on a game instead of trialling different sites maybe code.org is maybe better then scratch for me because I have experience.
The things that helped my learning were peers in the class when I was stuck and also our own Coding genius Mrs Danielle Kemp because we have some REEEEEALLLLL experts in our class.
The insight I have now towards python code is to add print and quotation mark when typing anything and also if you are talking about a location lets say Paris you would do this: (‘location’):(‘Paris’).
I how I felt at the start of the experience I did feel pretty confident just trialling scratch.
With such a confusing format I didn’t know what I was doing so that meant in the middle of this process I was pretty angry with my self and hated that feeling so much- I mentioned. I moved on Grok then did some python script there which I did feel confident and decided to use it because I enjoy Grok as I got some help I started to love it.
Though, at the end of the lesson I was upset that I haven’t started my game yet and that also describes my picture considering I wasn’t too pleased.
The picture reflects my feelings because as you can see I didn’t finish it/ understand it very well so I WILL START ON CODE.ORG to improve my coding skills and mindset towards coding and can’t wait to start Code.org!!!
