Tuesday DOUBLE:
This lesson double stem lesson, today I used extremely productively. I used this lesson extremely productively as I added a large amount of needed information to my Discussion. The information that I added to my discussion was an addition to yesterday’s work. Yesterday, I made a great start to my discussion but this lesson I was adding the prior knowledge that I learnt from doing the project to help create reasonable conclusions to how precise my used measurements were and did I measure the correct number of decimal places before placing in the table. Knowing how precise my measurements were and to know if I used the correct number of decimal places will help me when redoing this project or a similar again, I will know what to look out for that I didn’t include last time. Overall, I did a lot of reflection of this lesson on what I had done during my experiment and didn’t get distracted much. Something that I struggled a little bit with was the change of relief teachers and how noisy the class was. The change of relief teachers was almost a change of environment that I felt uncomfortable at first but slowly got used to. The noisiness in the room didn’t distract me but made it harder. To overcome this, I just tried to preserve as much as possible.
Monday- Single lesson:
During the Monday single lesson, I originally decided that I was going to work on my video that I had been doing for the past homework nights and last 3 classes. This lesson, I decided I would get started on my discussion which I did. I started with the first part of the discussion which was about sample size and the number of trials done and if it was enough to see a pattern in my results. This question refers to how many people I tested and how big the group was. This question also refers to if any of the people that I tested had a similar reaction to the food. I answered with: I had 4 girls trialling my food, 2 with autism, 2 without. To improve my results and show a variation different answer I could do a panel of over 8 people. Doing a panel of over 8 people will improve my results and show more of a variation from more people who have different types of autism instead of two girls who are quite similar and like eating similar things and have similar habits. The sample size was enough to see a variation in my results as from the experiment I noticed that people on the spectrum reacted to foods with a hard to soft texture such as the vegetables and the hummus. They reacted to this before because both girls with autism tested don’t tend to eat foods with a texture variation and were slightly new to them and they got a sensory overload from it. But on the other hand, the girls who weren’t on the spectrum handled it fine.
